-{that was the week that was}-

Last week's diary. It was much busier than the pages indicate, after all, I spy spaces. But I usually doodle away whilst on the phone or whilst eating or watching t.v so there was not much of that last week.
I loved Inglourious Basterds, the latest Tarantino masterpiece. I had to peek through my fingers at some of it as I am less able to cope with violence these days. But the storytelling and characters were magnificent, genius even. And the best baddie in a film, ever. [sorry, Heath Ledger, as the Joker, you did not scare or convince me]
It's been a hot simmery few days but packed away in my little studio space, the sun doesn't get a look in so I've been blissfully unaware. And am remaining a blueish shade of white. Or a whiter shade of pale. Bang the drum for fake face tan. I love it.

--->some kind of process

Remember these beauties?
Well, summer being summer and all things come to pass and now they look like the middle image of the triptych. Full of autumn and melancholy. Today was so sunny I made some sun prints from the skeletons and they came out quite nicely {see the top panels). I don't know what to do with them now...maybe a book? I fear if I frame them; they may fade quite quickly and then I'll have framed 12 white pieces of paper but hey! it could catch on.
You read it here first.

<---weekly peek rant and geek

After a lovely few days exploring the Norfolk coast
(and I went even further afield this time, Beyond Cromer aka BC)
where the weather was perfect for beaches, crab salads, cream teas and a trillion beach hut images.
Driving around the leafy lanes exploring and cooing at perfect houses in perfect places full of people obviously leading perfect lives, I felt a deep nostalgia for England and her quiet unassuming glory.
And a sense of good fortune on my part that I live here.

I was feeling quite excited about seeing 'The Time Traveller's Wife' at the pictures (I always call the cinema that)
but I should have known better. After enjoying the slightly confusing story in book form I should have left it at that, but always curious to see how someone else saw the tale, I couldn't resist.
I won't spoil it for you and it's suffice to say that I cried.
(I'm a sucker for a romance and partial to a bit of emotional music)
And I was scared to sniff because of the close proximity of people who were unmoved and didn't want to draw attention to myself, as I had already received what I perceived to be a glare on opening my crinkly bag of giant chocolate buttons.
But I was quite cross that the main character (The Time traveller's Wife herself, Claire) who is an artist was hardly seen to be one at all. This was a great disservice to the book I thought. There was one scene of her making a piece of paper and that was it. And a laughable folded newspaper picture above the fireplace in another scene. As far as I remember in the book, her work conjured up great visuals for me as she created wonderful installations with paper. I don't understand why this was not seized upon to make a great arty visual cinematic experience. The nature of a book or piece of paper being a great metaphor for immortality and all. Gutted I was. Aren't movie people interested in the details? I bet the author Audrey Niffenegger had no say in it at all as she teaches printing and book production in Chicago. One of the downsides to selling your work to Hollywood. I shall chase them down the garden path and beyond the hedge when they come knocking. Unless there are clauses.
If you aint got clauses, get orf my land.

Just had to get that off my chest dear bloggerati.
Film critique over.

Loulou for director/producer/artistic direction next time. And catering.

∞..if beach huts were stray dogs..∞

Beach huts at Wells-Next-the-Sea.
Loved them all, if they were stray dogs
I would have taken them all home.
A beautiful beach, with no 'facilities' at all which made it perfect.
A walk through a pine forest and we were there.
I absolutely must return there in the winter.

«««one more day in the week would get it all done«««

Try as I might, I cannot conjure up enough hours in the day.
{my spell book seems to be broken}

I aim to get all my backlog completed
so I can have a few days in Norfolk.
I fell in love with the coast from Cromer
down to Southwold a while back
and I'm going exploring again.

Expect reports of endless sand dunes,
crab salads and seal sightings at dawn.

---dear diary---

I've got this weird hyper mood at the moment and I've been rushing everywhere trying to do everything, be all things.
On Sunday, I ran upstairs to get a book and on the way down, skidded in my flipflops and hurtled down the stairs. Now, I am nursing bruises (vermillion red and windsor blue) on my forearm, my hand hurts and this morning I seem to have woken up with a whiplash type of injury on my neck.
This has all succeeded in slowing me down.
It's also played havoc with my yoga and I do believe there is a lesson there for me.
I was getting so much done too...I've actually designed my winter/Christmas greetings cards
thanks to a project I'm getting involved in.
Mince pie anyone?

°tropical blogess°

Dearly Beloved Readers
Here I am in full tropical glory...at the Wah launch party.
Just had my nails painted hot pink
with tiny little pictures of fruit (watermelons were my fave).
It was hot, we sizzled, got sozzled and wafted our hands around a lot.
I did promise you all a snap of the woman behind the blog
and my daughter took this last night.
